Water rate hikes go to City Council on Thursday

Email share

In two days, the San Antonio City Council will discuss and are expected to take action on proposed water rate hikes.

If approved, the city ordinance would call for modifications to the SAWS water and wastewater rate structures and make adjustments to the rate plans for 2017 to 2020.

The rate hikes were requested in order to fund various pipeline repair projects as well as a desalination project and the controversial Vista Ridge pipeline.

You can see a summary report online as well as a draft ordinance, which would later be replaced by a final ordinance if adopted by the City Council.
