We can expect to see higher food prices and fee increases from the state Department of Agriculture in the near future.
The San Antonio Express-News reports Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller will raise fees so that his department can ensure gasoline pumps are dispensing the right amount of fuel to overseeing eggs and checking grocery store weights.
Miller says budget cuts by the state Legislature to his department have forced him to begin the multimillion-dollar fee increases.
