Conservative student group's planned event gets cheeky response

Email share

Last week, fliers were distributed in dormitories announcing that controversial conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza would be speaking at Trinity University on the topic, "What's so great about America?"

Students didn't protest, and certainly did not riot. They wrote their answers on 228 of the 600 fliers distributed -- and returned them to the leaders of Tigers for Liberty, the group sponsoring the lecture.

Kelly Lyons, a Trinity biology professor, joins Rick Casey to talk about the topic.

Ross Ramsey, executive editor of the Texas Tribune, discusses a powerful Texas House Republican's promise to block Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick's school voucher bill.

Casey closes out the show with his Last Word. He'll chat about whether the River Walk and Mayor Ivy Taylor will be haunted by the ghost of Yanaguana.

Tune in to Texas Week at 8 p.m. Fridays.
