Both sides speak on behalf of school choice bill

Email share

Senate Bill 3 this session is a school choice bill that would, for the first time, provide Texas parents with money to help pay to send their children to private and religious schools.

Rafael Bejar, policy advisor with the Texas Public Policy Foundation, a conservative organization that has pressed for school choice for years, joins Rick Casey in the studio. Also joining us, from Austin in the Texas Tribune studio, is Dr. Charles Luke of the Coalition for Public Schools, who opposes the bill.

Evan Smith, chief executive officer of the Texas Tribune, joins us to discuss Gov. Greg Abbott's State of the State address.

Casey closes out the show with his Last Word, where he'll chat about Congressman Lamar Smith's recommendations for where Americans should go to find the truth.

Tune in to Texas Week at 8 p.m. Fridays.
