The technology needed to create conditions necessary to raise and breed endangered animals is critical, which is why Dr. Fenolio and his team are recycling old cargo shipping containers into labs and renovating an old warehouse freezer to re-create the climate for the Japanese salamanders, among other species and animals. In conjuction, a redundant HVAC system has been installed to ensure fail-proof lab conditions.

Dr. Fenolio and his team hope to become the first U.S. zoo to breed Japanese salamanders.
