KLRN recently announced Susanne Tata from Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church Day School as a PBS KIDS Early Learning Champion. This new awards program recognizes committed educators who work with young children, from infants to second-graders, and will offer a variety of community building, leadership and professional learning opportunities provided by PBS and member stations over the next two years.

“Part of our mission of KLRN is to create a world of lifelong learning. We help our local early childhood professionals acquire the resources and tools to help children be prepared for the transition into Kindergarten. We do this not only through our educational broadcast programming but through educational initiatives and projects that help support teachers in the classroom as we explore how anytime is learning time,” said Arthur Emerson, President and CEO of KLRN. “Susanne Tata is one shining example who joins us in our commitment to guide children and put them on the proper path for a successful future. We are proud to recognize her work and honor her in this way.”

Susanne Tata is an incredible STEM teacher. Her knowledge shines through when she teaches science. She is very creative and brings an innovative approach to her classroom projects, often transforming everyday household items into learning tools for her students. Susanne actively involves families with their child’s learning. She also mentors and shares knowledge and resources with other teachers at her school. Susanne is a Preschool-3 teacher at Alamo Heights Presbyterian Church Day School. She joined the staff in 2007; Ms. Tata has over 20 years’ experience as a teacher in the early childhood field. She has a degree in microbiology.

The PBS KIDS Early Learning Champions cohort is made up of various early learning caregivers – including certified Pre-K, Head Start and early elementary teachers, childcare providers as well as family, friends and neighbors in early learning settings – representing, celebrating, and supporting the diverse teaching community impacting young learners.
