Looking for ways to beat the heat this summer? Tune in and watch the latest episode of ARTS where we showcase how two local arts organizations are upping San Antonio’s cool factor. The art scene in San Antonio has seen an increase in hip and innovative new art events while also adding modern elements to classic arts scenes. ARTS visits with two artists who are making San Antonio anything but lame by adding some “must see” productions to our calendar this season.

In this episode, we take you on a whimsical journey to the The Magik Theatre, where we meet Greg Hinojosa, artistic consultant and director of their latest production, La Cinderella. He talks to us about how the classic fairytale gets an added San Antonio twist. Set in colonial times, La Cinderella fuses San Antonio history with fantasy to create a hilarious and heart-warming musical tale that will make you want to revisit your history books and childhood memories. La Cinderella will run from July 2 through- August 6 at The Magik Theatre.

We then sit down with Executive Director of SAFILM, Adam Rocha, who gives us insight as to how the 22-year-old San Antonio Film Festival compares to bigger festivals in Los Angeles and Austin. We chat about several of the films lined up to premiere. The festival boasts 145 international films with 29 of those from San Antonio filmmakers. Rocha talks to us exclusively about the new addition of the festival, a partnership with The Pearl, adding a new four-day children’s cinema selection. The San Antonio Film Festival runs from July 25 until July 31.
