Join us as KLRN embarks on a RARE adventure this summer! We're hosting three different ways to join the fun! Start by being our guest at one of our preview screenings, then participate in our Instgram photo contest, and join us by watching the 3- part series on KLRN Public Television.
Joel Sartore is a natural-born storyteller. RARE: Creatures of the Photo Ark is a digital “collection” of the world’s mammals, fish, amphibians, birds, reptiles and insects. The three-part series will air on KLRN July 18th, July 25th, and August 1st at 8pm. Sartore documents endangered species at zoos, in nature preserves, and in the wild while other scientists and naturalists share important information about why ensuring the future of these animals is so critical.
KLRN received funding to present local community outreach activities to our community this summer. In partnership with the San Antonio Zoo, KLRN will produce a local 15-minute segment to highlight endangered animals found at the zoo. KLRN will also host 3 special preview screenings in July:

Also, KLRN invites you to grab your cameras and participate in our FIRST EVER Instagram contest—starring ANIMALS! Capture photos of animals at the zoo, in your neighborhood, or at a nature preserve and share them on Instagram, tag KLRN (@klrntv) and use hashtag #KLRNrare.

Timeline: Entries accepted 12:01 AM July 1- 11:59 PM July 14, 2017.
Photo Content: Amphibians, birds, invertebrates, mammals, and reptiles in neighborhoods, zoos, and nature preserves. All photo submissions must be original photos of the person submitting. All rights to the photos must be cleared for distribution.
Audience: Anyone and everyone from KLRN's 30-county viewing area.
Number of entries per person: Unlimited.
Prize: WIN 1 of 3 photobooks with most "liked" photos
Photos must be submitted on Instrgarm using hastag #KLRNrare and tagging (@KLRNTV). The top 3 #KLRNrare photos on Instagram with the most "likes" as of 11:59 PM on July 14, 2017 wins.
