This week On The Record, Host Randy Beamer talks with Sheriff Salazar about the increasing number of thefts of vehicles happening all over the county.   Salazar says it is cartels who break into cars looking for guns – and they are surprisingly successful!

Next, Ananda Tomas, Executive Director of ACT4SA, explains the petition drive her organization is working on that will put a charter amendment before San Antonio voters in May.  On the ballot will be the continuation of cite-and-release policies as well as decriminalization for small amounts of marijuana.

Also on the show this week is Katie Jarl, Executive Director of Texas Pets Alive, which is working on legislation they hope will be carried in the Texas session this year that would allow municipal shelters to give care to pets whose owners cannot pay for veterinary care.  The idea is that owners would be less likely to surrender their animals if they could get the vet care.

On Reporter’s Roundtable, writer Richard Webner discusses his current story in the Express-News on how many new homes are sold to investor groups.  The number is high in San Antonio- an estimated 20 to 30 percent of new built homes go right to these groups.
