This week, On The Record with Randy Beamer drills down into the city budget with Mayor Gina Ortiz Jones. The city is facing a projected budget shortfall of $158-milion dollars, and there will have to be cuts. Jones discusses some of her efforts, including cuts to organizations like the zoo and the Botanical Garden.
Next, San Antonio’s premiere Fiesta event, NIOSA, is doing a major reset this year after space at its traditional home, La Villita, has been reduced. Betty Bueche, President of the San Antonio Conservation Society, talks with Randy about where the event might end up in 2027, and why they need more than just a reset on the location.
On Reporter’s Roundtable, Express News City Hall reporter Megan Rodriguez discusses her story on the city’s new plan to deal with homeless encampments.
