Heavy rain around Beaumont in Southeast Texas produced flooding so severe that today Interstate 10 near the Texas, Louisiana border had to be closed.
Motorists were forced to take alternate routes, which added congestion to roads already heavy with Spring Break drivers.
Gov. Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster for 17 counties in the area.
