A few simple skills can save a life

Email share

Accidents happen every day whether it’s a car wreck, on-the-job injury or mass casualty. During these incidents, a severely injured person is at risk of bleeding to death as fast as five minutes.

Bystanders are always the first on the scene, so being prepared can mean the difference between life and death.

With this in mind, University Health System is reaching out to the community to teach essential skills that can help keep a badly bleeding person alive. Classes started this week.

Trauma and injury prevention experts will continue to offer free 90-minute “Stop the Bleed” courses each month at University Hospital’s Cyprus Room, located at 4502 Medical Drive.
