Dear Families,
How wonderful it is that everyone has the ability to help each other. In some areas we have strength to share, and in other areas we need help. Everyone is like that: every one of us has a special talent that we can use to help someone else, and an area where we can receive the help that someone else has to give.
We all need each other. Let us all use our talents to help each other, and let us accept the help given by others and their talents. We all grow more connected and stronger when we work together. Infant Toddler Math Activities
- Be a Good Friend
Seeing examples of good friendships helps kids form their own. Print the page. As kids color, talk about friendship. - Elmo’s Rainbow Hug
Even a small token of love can have a big impact on someone’s day. Talk to your child about sharing positive feelings and explain, “It makes people feel good to know how much you care.” - Making New Friends
Kids can learn important relationship skills that will serve them their whole lives: playing and sharing together, appreciating differences, and showing thanks for one another.
Preschool Math Activities
- Kindness Bingo
This game will help build children's kindness and empathy skills.
When children are kind and compassionate, they are more tolerant and more aware of the suffering of others, and they are better able to rejoice in other people’s successes. Children develop compassion through acts of caring and kindness towards others, and as they grow, it can guide their actions and behaviors in positive ways - Choosing Chores: Everyone Can be a Helper
Children feel proud when they can be helpers. When they do things like help set the table or sort laundry or put their toys away , they feel more grown up. What a good feeling it can be for children to know that it’s not only adults who are the “helpers,” but that children can be helpers too. - Create a “Kindness Tree”
Show your child how kindness grows by creating a “Kindness Tree” to hang on the wall. This paper tree creates a visual reminder of the ways your child is kind every day.

Fireflies Musical Yoga for Kids is a 12-part series, consisting of three-minute instructional videos presented by Kira Willey. Kira encourages children with movement and music through her interactive yoga lessons. Her unique approach marries original music with yoga, fostering a deep connection and understanding of the importance of incorporating fitness and focus throughout the day. - Developing Supporting Ideas: A Garden Grows in Brooklyn

AS LONG AS I REMEMBER: AMERICAN VETERANOS examines the steep personal toll and enduring legacy of the Vietnam War on three artists from south Texas: visual artist Juan Farias, author Michael Rodriguez and actor/poet Eduardo Garza. Through the personal histories and experiences of these Chicano veterans, the film reveals the important role art plays in sorting their memories, celebrating their culture, and treating the long-term impact of their military experience including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). - América | Family and Caregiving: The Challenge of Caring for Our Elders
When Diego and his two brothers are brought together to care for their charismatic 93-year-old grandmother, América, they confront the transition from carefree adolescence to adult responsibilities in the documentary América from directors Erick Stoll and Chase Whiteside. - Community Garden
Orville Edwards, an urban naturalist, describes how community gardens can help improve the quality of life in the city. Vacant lots in a neighborhood in Brooklyn are converted into gardens. Edwards works in the largest community garden. Green spaces, like this garden, become a sanctuary for people living in a busy, congested city. They become spaces for people to relax, experience healthy living and socialize with neighbors in a positive way. In this video segment from WILD TV, Edwards shares his hopes that the garden space will be replicated across the United States to bring people together. - A Fellow Human Being
A Fellow Human Being explores the work of Magdalena Pedro Martínez and Jaime Guerrero in the NEIGHBORS episode. NEIGHBORS explores the connections between Mexico and the United States through craft. Magdalena Pedro Martínez is a barro negro ceramist, specializing in female figures dressed in the traditional costumes of the regions of the state of Oaxaca. Jaime Guerrero is a glass artist who creates life size figures in glass to address issues of social inequality and the need for change, often focusing on urban and Latino culture. - Andy Samberg: The California Labor School
Students will learn about The California Labor School, which offered classes on labor organization, economics, journalism, history, music, drama, and industrial arts from 1942 to 1957.
