KLRN strives to provide valuable educational content to every family in our viewing area, from great drama, world-class music, in-depth news, fascinating "how-to" programs and, best of all — non-violent educational programs for your children.
During these times of uncertainty KLRN is adapting and creating new educational resources in an easy to follow format. We aim to provide the educational content and resources that support every family in our community.
During these daily blog posts, you will find that we will feature two PBS Kids programs and provide accompanying educational activities that will help extend the learning into your home. In addition to that we have added a new 4 PM time slot that aims at providing some content for older school age students. You will find resources tied to each of these programs aired daily with lessons from our PBS LearningMedia site.
We hope that this will provide your family a way to enjoy the PBS shows you love and extend the learning into your home.
All the best,
KLRN’s Education Team

Infants and Toddlers
Infants and toddlers are born with a natural drive to explore and make sense of the world around them. They are curious explorers and they wonder how and why things work the way they do. Their natural curiosity and creativity are enhanced and supported through nurturing, responsive relationships with their families.
- Infant Activity: At 6 Months babies know familiar faces and begin to know if someone is a stranger, likes to play with others, especially parents, responds to other people’s emotions and often seems happy, and likes to look at themselves in the mirror. Place a safe mirror low on the wall/ floor so that infants can look into the mirror and see themselves and others.
- Toddler Activity: Explore and tear paper, sing and dance to music, and use play dough to create three-dimensional work.
Preschool Activity
The preschool years are an important time of physical activity and development, plan indoor and outdoor experiences that promote physical development and support children as they pursue an active lifestyle. Here is a great list of non-competitive & active games for preschoolers.

Curriculum: (Music) Sing songs that use gestures to illustrate or substitute for words. Interstitial: Kids observe the same lake from different angles and paint their perspectives with watercolors.
Make Your Own Collage
The illustrations in Pinkalicious make use of collage, which is using various images to create a piece of art. Tell your child that collages can be made up of anything: from buttons, or feathers, to uncooked pasta!
To make your own collage, gather a variety of items such as buttons, pasta, recycled paper, pom poms, anything you might have around your home. Have children use these items to create a cupcake collage!
Here are some great examples of some cupcake collages.
