The San Antonio City Council today approved a loan of $250,000 to locally based Texas Biomedical Research Institute to fund the design of a new state-of-the-art biosafety facility on its campus.

In June 2017, Texas Biomed’s board of trustees agreed to construct a second BSL-4 lab to increase the organization’s ability to develop vaccines and therapies for current and emerging deadly infectious diseases.
