KLRN strives to provide valuable educational content to every family in our viewing area, from great drama, world-class music, in-depth news, fascinating "how-to" programs and, best of all — non-violent educational programs for your children.
During these uncertain times, KLRN is adapting and creating educational resources in an easy-to-follow format. We aim to provide educational content and resources that support every family in our community.
With these daily blog posts, you will find two PBS Kids programs featured, and accompanying educational activities that will help extend learning into your home. In addition to that we have added a new 4 PM time slot that aims at providing some content for older school age students. You will find resources tied to each of these programs aired daily with lessons from our PBS LearningMedia site.
We hope that this will provide your family a way to enjoy the PBS shows you love and extend the learning into your home.

Several of the historical figures Xavier, Brad, and Yadina meet on their adventures were storytellers themselves. In this activity, your child will use her imagination and practice storytelling by rolling homemade dice to tell a unique story! Each roll will designate an image on each of the three dice, which will become your story elements. Take turns telling a complete story by combining the three story pieces in any creative way you can.

Kingdoms of the Sky: The Rockies

Experience the amazing wildlife and remarkable people who inhabit this 3,000-mile mountain range, home to cougars, wolverines, wolves and grizzlies. Daredevil wingsuit fliers jump from high peaks and Native Americans compete in breakneck horse races.

Rocky Mountain Roundup: Photo Scavenger Hunt
Players are challenged to complete a series of missions to photograph mountain plants and animals in the Canadian Rockies, in this interactive game from PLUM LANDING. Through the clues that Plum provides, players learn about mountain ecosystems, the plants and animals living there, and how they are adapted to mountain life.
Grades 6-12
Learn how abandoned mines have been contaminating water supplies in the Rocky Mountains in this video from NOVA: Poison in the Rockies. Beginning in the 1850s, prospectors dug deep mines in the Colorado Rockies in search of precious metals. Today, more than 15,000 abandoned metal mines have filled with acidic water that carries away heavy metals like lead, cadmium, and zinc into mountain streams. In small quantities, some metals are essential to life, but in larger quantities they are toxic. Some newer mines include safeguards to make them more environmentally sound.
