KLRN strives to provide valuable educational content to every family in our viewing area, from great drama, world-class music, in-depth news, fascinating "how-to" programs and, best of all — non-violent educational programs for your children.

During these uncertain times, KLRN is adapting and creating educational resources in an easy-to-follow format. We aim to provide educational content and resources that support every family in our community.

With these daily blog posts, you will find two PBS Kids programs featured, and accompanying educational activities that will help extend learning into your home. In addition to that we have added a new 4 PM time slot that aims at providing some content for older school age students. You will find resources tied to each of these programs aired daily with lessons from our PBS LearningMedia site.

We hope that this will provide your family a way to enjoy the PBS shows you love and extend the learning into your home.

Sesame Street

Monday, May 11 at 10 AM

Rosita, Elmo, and Abby pretend to be astronauts and use their imagination to go into space. With help from Chris, they figure out which 'space tool' to use to fix their ripped space ship.

    Use your imagination to take him on a space adventure!
  • Twinkle Twinkle Letter Stars
    Astronomers, the scientists who study stars, have divided the night sky into 88 official constellations. A “constellation” is a group of stars that form a recognizable pattern when viewed from Earth. Now you can create constellations in your home – while also teaching alphabet skills!
  • Solar System Art
    Create your own solar system with paper, paint and a spray bottle!

  • Pinwheel to Explore Wind
    Go out in the wind if there is any & take a colorful Windmill or pinwheel with you & let it spin (or blow on it yourself if the breeze won’t do the job) and talk to your baby about the direction of the wind and how the wind feels.
  • Exploring the Temperatures in your House
    There is a wide range of temperatures on earth — from desert hot to arctic cold. What are the temperatures like where you live? Go on an temperature scavenger hunt with your child to discover the many ways you measure temperatures inside and outside your house.
  • Explore Nature's Colors With a Color Wheel
    Fall is back! Take one look around and the signs are everywhere; they come in the forms of reds, yellows, oranges, and browns. That's right - the leaves are the surest sign that autumn has arrived. Here's an activity that is part scavenger hunt, part color theory, and all about tuning into the world around us and honing our skills of observation.

Observe and annotate various images of weather phenomena in this interactive drawing tool produced by WGBH. Weather is the combination of various factors—snow or rain, wind, sunlight and clouds, and temperature—that happen in a specific location at a specific time.

Breakthrough: The Ideas That Changed The World

Monday, May 11 at 4 PM

Learn how robots were first conceptualized in ancient Rome and see how their use has evolved over the centuries, from the calculator to the Roomba. Then, take a sneak peek at what future robots will be able to do.

Grades 3-12

Robot Race

Creating a robot capable of safely navigating its environment without human intervention has been a goal of engineers ever since they first conceived of robots nearly 50 years ago. Despite rapid advancements in technology, however, engineers did not succeed in the task of designing autonomous robots until recently. This video segment adapted from NOVA follows two teams as they push their engineering design skills to the limit to develop systems that allow cars to drive themselves in the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge.

Grade 6-12

Rise of the Robots | The Ethics of Robotics

What social problems may robotic advances bring? In addition, there are ethical concerns related to the development of autonomous robots. For example, should a robot be able to decide who lives and who dies in an emergency situation? This resource is part of the NOVA Collection.
