ICE raids draw fear in families, particularly children

Email share

Reports of ICE raids in five cities have immigrant families scared throughout Texas. And some of their children are terrified. In response, this week the San Antonio Independent School District board voted 6-0 to promise to do as much as they can for the children of undocumented parents.

Patti Radle, president of the San Antonio Independent School District Board, and Shelley Potter, president of the San Antonio Alliance of Teachers and Support Personnel, join Rick Casey in the studio to talk about the topic.

Morgan Smith, reporter with the Texas Tribune, joins us to discuss the Tribune's series on how, despite the tough talk of politicians, state policies help further the trafficking of children.

Casey closes out the show with his Last Word, where he'll chat about Congressman Lamar Smith's recommendations on where Americans should go to find the truth.

Tune in to Texas Week at 8 p.m. Fridays.
