Texas Veterans Commission

The Texas Veterans Commission, created in 1927 to assist veterans of the Indian wars, Spanish-American War and World War I, is the state appointed advocate for Texas veterans as they secure their earned benefits.

The agency provides claims representation and counseling to veterans, dependents and survivors, employment services matching job seekers with employers, oversight of education and training benefits, and grants to charitable organizations, local agencies and service groups providing direct services to Texas veterans and their families.

Are you or is a loved one struggling with symptoms of posttraumatic stress disorder stemming from deployments to Iraq or Afghanistan? You might find help through the STRONG STAR PTSD Research Consortium and its sister organization, the newly funded Consortium to Alleviate PTSD.

Led by The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, STRONG STAR and CAP, large clinical trials with military and VA institutions in San Antonio, Waco, and at Fort Hood take the leading treatments for PTSD and tailor them to meet the unique needs of war veterans.
