As the public television station serving San Antonio, KLRN engages in educational initiatives that make our community a better place to live. For the past four years, KLRN has been actively involved in promoting the importance of responsible pet ownership. This year, KLRN has launched Pet Tales--a project with a cross-generational focus bringing families together in ways that build learning and understanding. Beginning in January 2010, KLRN will air a Pet Tales "program-of-the-month" (each with a responsible pet ownership theme and chosen from our programming library) that will interest and engage families with young children. The accompanying website will contain suggested family discussion questions, family activities, and related books for each program.
Each Pet Tales program will follow the View-Read-Do model of learning. On the website, you'll find: 1) suggested questions for you to discuss while you VIEW the program; 2) recommended books that you and your child can READ together; and 3) ideas for fun activities to DO together to extend the learning from the program.
