In fact, The San Antonio Food Bank distributes 40-pound food boxes to 25,000 individuals a week facing emergency or financial hardships. Each box contains approximately a week’s supply of food.

That’s why KLRN and Broadway Bank are once again teaming up with YOU on the Rick Bayless: One Plate at a Time Food Drive in February 2009. Canned goods and other non-perishable items can be dropped off at Broadway Bank locations between February 2 and 27.

The donations will be picked up by the Food Bank and distributed to several organizations that serve children and families--including senior citizen centers, church pantry programs, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, orphanages, after school programs, day care centers, and rehabilitation facilities.

Thank you to the schools who helped make the 2008 Food Drive a success!

Rick Bayless, the foremost authority of Mexican cooking in America and host of the popular PBS series, Mexico—One Plate at a Time, has generously agreed to lend his name and support to this effort. His program airs Saturdays at 4 p.m. on KLRN, channel 9.

“You can’t stamp out hunger alone —but you can cure it one plate at a time with the support of the whole community.”
Rick Bayless

“Hunger doesn’t know a holiday… because we have to eat every day,
we need the community to continue their support.  Together we can
Fight Hunger and Feed Hope throughout the year.”

Eric Cooper, Executive Director, San Antonio Food Bank
