About the program

Beginning a hundred years ago, tens of thousands of families from Mexico came to Texas to escape the revolution that left their motherland in shambles. Some of Mexico’s most talented families settled here and never went back. This exodus jumpstarted today’s Latinization of Texas and America’s Southwest. Now “The Children of the Revolucion” tell the stories of their ancestors who risked it all to make this journey, helping to make America stronger—prouder—and better.  

San Antonio and South Texas Latinos  such as Henry Cisneros, Alex Briseno, Ricardo Romo, John Phillip Santos, and Virgil Elizondo. Charles Barrett and many others will be telling their family stories of their ancestors life and Mexico, their escape to Texas and their final decision to stay here to contribute to their new country.

Produced and directed by Lionel Sosa and associate producer Jesus Ramirez for KLRN, the two have assembled a crew of San Antonio's most talented cinematographers, musicians, editors and story tellers to create a series that will be bring to light the little known stories about the families who helped develop the rich cultural fabric of the City we know and love.
