San Antonio, Texas (May 10, 2018): Join KLRN on Thursday, May 17 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Law Office of Branden Lopez, located at 1422 Buena Vista, San Antonio, Texas 78207, for a mural dedication.

Local artist, Ernesto Cuevas, Jr., recently finished the mural, which pays homage to Oscar Zeta Acosta, a radical Chicano lawyer, author, and countercultural icon. Oscar is the subject of the film, The Rise and Fall of the Brown Buffalo, which recently broadcast on KLRN. Since March, KLRN has hosted community events in support of the film and we’re capping off our community engagement opportunities with a mural dedication.

“My inspiration for the mural was Acosta’s process of reflection and transformation. His growth and development of the Brown Buffalo identity parallels and is symbolic of a community that was and still is rising in consciousness, and power of self,” Cuevas, Jr said. “My hope is that any viewer of this piece feels and carries with them the power that was inspired by the Chicana/o Movement.”

Entertainment will be provided by El Tallercito de Son with Panifico Bake Shop providing pan dulce.
