Ashley Smith became an unexpected social media star this week when she posted a picture of herself with Texas Governor Greg Abbott. 

She was attending his re-election announcement event in San Antonio when the picture was taken.  Smith, who is transgender, explains how the picture came about, and why she is glad it took on a life of its own.
