The experiences children have between the ages of zero and five are critical to their success in school and, ultimately, in the workplace. KLRN recognizes this importance and is committed to providing quality early childhood programming and resources.

Early ON and Family, Friends, and Neighbors
KLRN further extends the impact of its children's programming through participation in the City of San Antonio's school readiness initiative Early ON. Through Early ON, KLRN provides workshops for parents at local childcare centers and elementary schools. Additionally, KLRN hosts community events in each council district. KLRN has also been working to reach and train informal caregivers through the Family, Friends, and Neighbors (FFN) program. Hands-on workshops provide important information, tools and resources to these caregivers to ensure that the children in their care enter school healthy and ready to succeed.
In 2005, KLRN reached 2,391 parents, formal, and informal caregivers through Early ON and FFN workshops in the community.
