Biography

Dr. Amy Jo Baker is currently the Senior Coordinator for Social Studies and Director of Teaching American History Grants.
She is the recipient of several awards and honors from the U.S. Census Bureau, Close Up Foundation, American Institute for Character Education, Bexar Country Historical Commission, and others. She has successfully written over $4 1/2 million in competitive grants and several million in federal grants. She is the founder of the San Antonio Regional History Fair; founded and co-coordinated the Institute of Texan Cultures Teach the Teachers Workshop and serves on its board and the founder of the Texas Council for History Education.
She has been a supporter of KLRN throughout her professional career and has named KLRN as a partner in each U.S. Office of Education Teaching American History Grants that were funded.
