Biography

Maricella Borroel is a native of San Antonio, Texas and grew up on the city’s Westside. After graduating from Phillips Academy
High School in Andover, Massachusetts, she received her Bachelor of Science from Boston University with a concentration in
Early Childhood Education. She then returned to Texas and performed a year of service in Austin with AmeriCorps. In the AmeriCorps for Community Engagement and Education Project she tutored kindergarten students in early literacy skills
and volunteered to help abused and neglected children at SafePlace.

After serving AmeriCorps, she worked with Avance-San Antonio as an Early Head Start Home Visitor for two years and then as Program Coordinator for the Avance-Early ON School Readiness Program. Maricella has continued to invest in developing and implementing services in the San Antonio community working with children birth to five years old and their families and caregivers. Her personal commitment to serve continues as she recently transitioned and joined KLRN as the Director of Early Childhood Services. Maricella is excited about the opportunity to bring resources into the community. She is looking forward to building community partnerships and services to enhance available resources.
