PBS Kids Raising Readers
The PBS Kids Raising Readers initiative ( funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Ready To Learn grant) uses a 360º approach to reach children
(ages 2-8) and their caregivers and teachers at home, in school and in the neighborhood. Over the next five years, the PBS Raising Readers team will be
in 20 different cities nationwide, working with local partners and community leaders to determine the best ways to reach and connect to families. San Antonio has been selected as one of the first five PBS Kids Raising Readers sites from across the country. KLRN and its many community partners will be working with PBS and CPB as new television programs and resources that help young children build strong pre-reading and reading skills are developed.
