AGES 4-8

If I Built a Car by Chris Van Dusen.
An imaginative boy muses about the kind of car he would like to build.  Bright, shiny illustrations show all of the innovations the young mechanic plans for his dream car.

Little Trucks with Big Jobs by Robert Maass.
Large photos show a variety of trucks busy at work across the community.   Familiar trucks, as well as more unusual ones, like the cable truck and the zamboni, are included.  A colorful, appealing format makes this an easy and enjoyable read.

The Mighty Street Sweeper by Patrick Moore.
The lowly street sweeper is contrasted with bigger, more powerful service and construction vehicles in this interesting little book.  Animated animal drivers add to the fun, but appreciation for the often overlooked street sweeper shines through.

Racecar Alphabet by Brian Floca.
By crafting his racecar story around the alphabet, Floca has produced a vocabulary-building book for auto enthusiasts of all ages.  The daring drivers are careening around corners, pressing the pedal and pulling ahead, and finally zipping and zooming in a victory lap!
