President and General Manager

San Antonio based Alamo Public Telecommunications Council (APTC), licensee of Public Television Station KLRN, a full-power station, is seeking qualified candidates for the office of President and General Manager.

The position calls for the overall operation and leadership of station operations. Responsibilities include business and financial matters, fund raising, budgeting, expense control, forecasting and profitability.

The candidate must possess a mission related, strategic vision as well as strong leadership and management skills, and be proficient with all local, state and federal laws including FCC regulations. As a member of the PBS network, the manager should be familiar with policies and regulations of the network affiliation.

The position calls for strong communications skills and knowledge of how to solicit funds from the viewing public, corporations and foundations. The candidate must have a fundamental understanding about the business and operations of the station.

The ideal candidate will have executive management experience as well as experience in developing and successfully implementing a strategic plan. He or she must have leadership qualities to hire and motivate department heads, establish goals, approve budgets and establish a working relationship with the Board of Directors.

Candidates must have the minimum of an undergraduate degree, at least 10 years of supervisory experience, proven leadership skills and sound judgment qualities.

Account Executive

KLRN is seeking candidates who have an affinity for PBS and a media sales background, preferably with experience in the local advertising industry.

The Account Executive will operate as an outside sales consultant on an independent contractor basis and is responsible for the sale of 15- and 30-second corporate sponsorship on-air messages and event sponsorships. The Account Executive is expected to support KLRN’s growing corporate support team while providing superior client service to underwriters. This is a commission only position with higher than average compensation.

Position requires contacting past donors and prospective donors for donations. Strong marketing skills a plus. Perfect for retired professionals, college students and those with school aged children.

The position is part-time and temporary, running March through mid-June. 30-35 hours per week, M-F between 9-5. $7.25 per hour.
